Finlay and Gage Musical Instruments
David Gage founded David Gage String Instrument Repair in 1978. That shop specialized in the sale, restoration, and repair of upright basses, cellos, violas, and violins with a client roster that ranged from great orchestral musicians to jazz, rock 'n roll, country, and world music performers.
Today, Finlay + Gage continues with the same spirit of the old shop —professional-level service for every player— while also inviting customers who play fretted instruments. We serve professionals, students, and amateurs, and pride ourselves on the care and attention we give each player and their instrument. Our focus is on maximizing the sound potential of the instrument and the playing requirements of the individual musician.
Currently, we are two stores, one in New York City and the other in Maplewood, New Jersey.
We offer world-class repair, rentals and an unparalleled assortment of instruments for sale.

The information you consent to share in relation to our SMS marketing service, email notifications and what you disclose to us during a visit or a showing.
For our Instrument Insight text service —available to renters and members of our StringCare— we use this information to send you text notifications (for your order, including educational and maintenance content, product information, tips, tricks and request for reviews from us). By consenting to commercial text messages in Finlay & Gage Musical Instruments LLC’s SMS marketing in the checkout and initializing a purchase or subscribing via our subscription tools (such as a form or with a question within a SMS message), you agree to receive additional recurring commercial text notifications in relation to your order, including without limitation text marketing offers and transactional texts, such as product information and offers and requests for reviews from us. Our tool stores responses, purchase information, and links clicked to better personalize content we send. By consenting to commercial text messages in Finlay & Gage Musical Instruments LLC’s SMS marketing in the checkout and initializing a purchase or subscribing via our subscription tools (such as a form or with a question within a SMS message), you agree to receive additional recurring commercial text notifications in relation to your order, including without limitation text marketing offers and transactional texts, such as product information and offers and requests for reviews from us, even if your mobile number is registered on any state or federal do-not-call list. Message frequency varies. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
