Summary: This German-made Strad copy would be great for a beginner to intermediate violinist. It has a cushy and inviting tone, and facilitates ease of playing. The back and ribs are of nicely flamed maple, the front of medium-grained spruce, and the varnish is of a light honey-brown color. There is some visible wear throughout the instrument, and there have been a few crack repairs, which is reflected in the price. We don’t believe these imperfections affect the sound of this violin.
