From Violin to Fiddle - Irish Reels

From Violin to Fiddle: Irish Reels
from $10.00

Fast-track to fun playing IRISH REELS on the fiddle
(and then at your local traditional music session)

We have had some lively and interactive workshops on jigs, polkas and hornpipes, but don’t worry if you have missed out on those - there will be opportunities to catch up. I help you develop a feel for the music while taking you step-by-step through the technical stuff like ornamentation and phrasing. And you always come away with a couple of tunes.

This series is for both current fiddlers wanting a brush-up and violin students wanting “another string to their bow.”

Learn to Strum: Uke for Young People

  • Finlay + Gage Musical Instruments (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

If you know a young person that has had an interest in the ukulele, but has not started playing, then let Danielle Perrotta make all of the necessary introductions. OR, if you know a uke kid that is looking to learn a few more songs and expand their repertoire, then Learn + Strum is just what you need.

This 4-week class is focused on playing songs on the ukulele. One of the great things about the uke is how easy it is to play. After a very short time, new players are able to play the basic chords and it’s not long before they’re playing songs. Danielle will walk with the young people in this class, show them what they need to know and get them comfortable finding and learning songs to play on their own. This easy connection to music is a great way to open a person’s eyes to the how fun it can be.

Young people who are involved in music typically perform better in school and playing in a group situation improves social skills. Most of all, playing the uke is FUN. You can play uke when your 8 and when you’re 80 and it will still bring happiness. This class is a great way to get started or to improve.
